It was fun to see the property of people who lived in the area years ago. We peered in the window of the main house and it reminded us of our grandparents The washing machine on the front porch reminded us of my mom’s washer that she kept in the basement. When we arrived at the Swett Ranch, we were greeted by two bucks who jumped over the fence right in front of our car. There was a small parking lot. Since we were the only ones there, it was not a problem. .to enter the property, you just had to open the gate to enter. When leaving, you had to close the gate. If you like looking at old properties or estates on your own and peering through windows, you may enjoy the Swettt Ranch.

This is a great historic homestead. There's plenty to see and many structures to view. We went the week before they opened it up for tours, but it was still great to see this area. There are picnic tables and a bathroom here. Be respectful and enjoy this glimpse into history.

This a great example of a historic Homestead Ranch. One family lived there for 62 years. Only horses were ever used for ranching and farming there. The Swett Family was Mom, Dad and 9 children-2 boys and 7 girls. There are 4 homes, 9 outbuildings, plus other storage for chickens and hogs. Some have sod roofs and some are log homes and one home was built with 4 by 12's cut at Oscar's own sawmill, as well as some of the other buildings. This is just a little about the ranch. This summer there will be guided tours Friday-Monday from 10:00 to 4:00 and Self-guided tours, also, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. A great educational experience for the whole family. No available water, but picnic tables are available.

We're traveling from Grand Teton to Silverton, CO and this was a great place to stop, stretch, eat lunch at one of the picnic tables, and learn a little bit of history! Definitely recommend visiting! Just please treat it as the amazing historical site that it is!
